Guster’s Guarantees

As my good friend Frederick Douglass once said, “If there is no struggle, there is no progress”. Just as Freddie had his struggles before things got better, we are traveling down a similar path towards progress. While this week may not look like an outright success, it is an improvement and an important step in the right direction. It will serve as a quintessential building block in the process of returning to making cold hard cash on a consistent basis once again. In addition to the strides made for our main mission, another advance by Josh has been defended, keeping him at arms length once again. As I assured you last week, the bleeding would stop and now that is has we can get back to gaining ground and cashing checks.

Josh challenges:

OAK -2.5 vs DET

Josh decided to tap into his NFL head coach doppelganger this week on his 3rd opportunity to take the lead in the challenge after failing to do so in his first two attempts. This would turn out to be a good old fashioned sweat out, with a total of nine changes in the covering side throughout the game. With the score tied 17-17 heading into the 4th quarter, the Raiders would find the end zone to grab a 24-7 lead. (This is right about the time Josh makes a desperation reverse jinx attempt by declaring he has lost and how he got screwed once again, despite there being nearly an entire quarter left to play in a one score game, smh). In classic fashion Josh would get his wish and turn the tides as the Lions get one back, tying the game at 24 with 5 minutes left to play. Derek Carr would then lead the Raiders down the field to answer once again, regaining a touchdown lead, leaving 2 minutes for Stafford & co. to work with. *Josh doubles down on his reverse jinx tactics*. The Lions wouldn’t go quietly though, hitting on two huge plays to Kenny Golladay, putting the Lions in goal to go with 36 seconds on the clock. After getting sacked on 2nd down, Stafford would hit Logan Thomas but he was tackled at the 1 yard line with the clock still running. Detroit was out of timeouts but John Gruden questionably decided to call timeout and give the Lions time to regroup and call one final play. Luckily this decision wouldn’t come back to bite us, as the pass attempt would be broken up and incomplete to seal the game. Patricia/Reich left scratching their beards.

Gus leads 5-4
