Guster’s Guarantees

GUSTER LANDS A BIG UPPERCUT AND JOSH IS ON THE MAT!

Boy, oh boy was I licking my chops when I saw Josh give me the gift of the Super Bowl Champion KC Chiefs with points in prime time. As I continue to harp on, I am focused on patience and discipline this year which is why I made a conservative play in week 2 to set myself up to strike when the opportunity arose and that is exactly what I did this week. Mahomes and company stood up tall for me and I never had to sweat a second of it. Can’t draw it up much better than that. A 3-0 lead is nice, but there is still a long way to go so I will keep my foot on the gas and try to keep Josh from getting up off the canvas.

3-0 Gus

Week 4 Challenges:

  1. SEA -6.5 @ MIA
  2. BUF -3 @ LV
  3. JAX +3 @ CIN

I want to point out how much I like Miami this week against Seattle. Now I know what you must be thinking – “Gus are you nuts?! Seattle is so good and Miami is bleh!” Well you have to read between the lines on this one:

Seattle may be one of the hottest teams in the league right now with Russel Wilson playing the best football of his career, but even great teams can find themselves in a bad spot. Seattle is a west coast team traveling to the east coast (about as far as you can possibly travel across the country) and playing in the early kickoff window. Never a good thing for a road favorite. Seattle also dealing with some impactful injuries – starting safety Jamal Adams and starting linebacker Jordyn Brooks ruled out; Chris Carson with a knee issue. Miami is coming off of a Thursday night game so they’ve had extra days to prepare and rest up. All great signs for Miami, who I still don’t expect to win this game but should be able to keep it within 1 possession.

I would be remiss if I didn’t stick Josh on his Bills pick this week, who have already cost him 1 loss from week 2 against Miami. I think Buffalo is due for a let down this week as a road favorite against the Raiders in Vegas.

Going with the Bengals for my third challenge. Just want to call out that Jacksonville +3 is only Josh’s second underdog pick all year out of 20 selections (lost his first underdog pick MIN +3 week 2). Not sure why he is so afraid of underdogs. It’s time for Burrow to earn his first NFL win after three gutsy performances he has delivered to start his career.
